Selling Value
There are a lot of "persuasive" sales techniques out there. Some quite manipulative. So, do you need to manipulate to sell successfully?
Before resorting to persuasion, we should make sure there is a profound level of value in what we sell. Profound value should have life-changing potential for the client and their situation. That doesn't mean life-changing in the broadest sense. It means life-changing in the context of what you do.
For example, if you sell real estate, the simple question is "Will their experience of selling or buying real estate through you change their perspective of what that experience should be like?" Will working with you change their paradigm about buying or selling real estate?
The reality is, most value is transactional - ore like labour for hire.
If value is transactional, a highly persuasive selling technique will be needed.
If value is life changing, the sale is often made just by presenting that value to them.
Too often, life changing value is communicated poorly and pressure techniques are used ... contaminating the perception of value.
One of the most powerful, pressure-free ways to present life changing value is through a well-designed, visual model.
